I grew up in Klæbu, a small town outside of Trondheim,
with 5000 inhabitants. From 92-97 there was a zoo
called Klæbu zoo located here.
11 years after the zoo closed down I went back to were I
spent alot of my childhood, to discover the abandon zoo
without traces of animal activity.
Next to the zoo a row of small appartments
now also stood empty and abandoned. In these buldings own by
the social service a mix of people with different background
lived in wait for a more permanent home.
I visited the city hall and went through the archive surching for
documents conserning the zoo.
I chose 8 letters all written by the owner of the zoo, John Rian,
between the years 1993-96.
Also I made four sculptures in cardboard and brown tape
that I documented on place. Ths sculptures were placed in
the abandon zoo and outside these houses.
The sculptures was innspired by "bearcaves" they make in plastic
to fake naturelike stones and wood. This is made for different
animals to make them seem more in their natural invornment
when they are displade.
